South Australia’s Home Battery Scheme
Knowing which rebate and support schemes you may be eligible for can make Solar an even more attractive decision.
The South-Australian Government is enabling 40,000 South Australian households access to $100 million in state government subsidies and $100 million in loans to pay for the installation of home battery systems.
This scheme is targeted towards already grid-connected solar households and doesn’t help with the subsidization of new or additional solar panels.
The subsidy will be available to all South Australians. However, energy concession holders will be able to access a higher subsidy, ensuring low-income households are supported to access the scheme.
Energy concession holders will receive $600/kWh, while all other households will receive $500/kWh and up to $6,000 per battery installed. Theses subsidies and loans provided by the South Australian Government will be available from October 2018 onward, subject to eligibility criteria.
This scheme is mainly focused towards the addition of a home battery storage system to existing rooftop solar panels. However, households without the battery system also have a finance option made available through the Commonwealth Government’s Clean Energy Finance Corporation. This will help purchase new or additional solar panels as well as the battery system.
